Opinion: Why The BJP Appropriates The Legacies Of Freedom Fighters

bjp freedom

Bhartiya Janta Party wants to appropriate legacies of all those revolutionary reformers mattering to the people’s mind, heart, and soul. Basically, for two reasons:

  1. To create a connection and conduct with the electorate.
  2. To display the lived social and cultural realities of the people.
The saffron party never shies away from idolising and appropriating their legacies, knowing fully how the people will react and respond to it.

Its electoral pride and privileges sharpening its strengths and covering up for its weaknesses in locating its achievable targets have become its chief characteristic political feature for winning political office in a state. Governance and Policy can wait but not government formation assisting in scoring a shot at political rank, profile and power. Signalling haste for conclusion by missing out on accountability and transparency has never been mentioned in the BJPs political vocabulary of performance and presentation.

They illustrate a penchant of rhetorics, beneficial in fulfilling the aspirations and expectations of the common and ordinary electorate failing in graduating as a conscious dutiful citizen. In this regard, the saffron party never shies away from idolising and appropriating the legacies of Vivekananda, Subhash Chandra Bose, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, etc. knowing fully how the people will react and respond to it.

A poll-bound Bengal in the coming months will bear testimony to this fact as for Mamta Banerjee shoring up her efforts as a leader and Chief Minister of her state is going to be very crucial. Didi has to make a clear distinction and choice without stepping back.
