Opinion: The Capitol Hill Riot Was A Result Of Trump’s Narcissism And White Supremacy

trump white supremacy

As per the American constitution, November is the month when people vote for their president. As usual, in every corner of the world, the losing party starts finding something fishy in the election and that’s what happened in the U.S.A. too. Donald Trump started accusing of fraud in voting and appealed his supporters to raise their voice. He also rejected the outcome of the voting as expected.

Later, Donald Trump and his colleagues started spreading lies about the election process and painted it as an attack on America’s democracy and values. To safeguard his agenda, Donald Trump started the #saveamerica campaign.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” – Joseph Goebbels.

D-Day

6 January was important for the U.S.A. as congress was going to certify the next president of America. But Donald Trump had planned something different for the country. In his rally, he purposely asked his supporters to march towards the Capitol and stop the injustice.

His supporters fell prey to the election conspiracy theory that Trump floated, got emotionally charged and believed that the elections were stolen. They sought justice through the means of violence. The mob was going to achieve peace and harmony with the use of violence. They were going to preserve democracy by disregarding the values of a democracy. And the repeated lie that was intentionally said had somewhere paved the way for the Capitol Hill riot.

Grounds for Rampage

I believe that two important things are responsible for the Capitol Hill riot.

I read last year that 350 health counsellor had written that Donald trump was mentally unfit, narcissistic. That is what I saw on 6 January after the riot. In some videos, he asked protestors to go home with love and peace and remember the day as if they had done something great. The protestors action was somewhere the expression and extension of Trump’s narcissistic rage, which made him satisfied.

The Capitol Hill riot was just another way of expression to preserve white supremacy. Not only the mob, but the police too acted that way. I remember the day when Black Lives Matter protest was being aired on TV. I saw police being rude towards that peaceful protest. Many people are participating in such violence just for the sake of pseudo supremacy.

I end with reading the line of former president George Washington Bush: “This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic, not our democratic republic.”
