Of an age bygone, I speak
In tones hushed and morose
For the lillies have lost their sway
As have the sonnets and prose
Rising from the storms of dust
Heroes no longer stand and pose
Grand dames await no more
The coming of gentlemen to propose
Sparse are the remnants of yore
As the days come to a close.
