Mr Trump, Honour The People’s Mandate, Step Down!

I don’t understand what reservations might Trump have to concede his election to a Biden. Who is he trying to intimidate and threaten if not for the sanctity of the constitutionally defined institutions, procedures and processes?

I don’t understand why isn’t he mellowing down his tone and temper knowing fully that the Republicans are now fully consummated with his rantings, reversals and rhetorics. Instead, he is leading from the front in claiming hoax especially in regard to the electoral college results. Georgia results were a complete shocker for Trump as never in his wildest of his imaginations did he think he would trail in one of his traditional Republican bastions.

Georgia saw a Democratic reclaiming hold of the state after a gap of 28 years. Trump’s lead in Georgia would have surely signalled his re-election prospects as maintaining a margin of 11,500 distinguishably matters in a tight presidential contest.

In my opinion, Trump’s performance in the key battleground swing states took this battle far far away from him. Majority of the Americans felt to look another way round given Trump’s penchant for populism, pride and patriotism at any cost, undermining areas of aspect like healthcare, education and livelihood greatly impacting an ordinary American. He never bothered to attend to the flailing economy, putting each and everybody’s existence into peril.

On top of it, the spread of Covid-19 resulted in heavy casualties in the US yet that never became a cause of anxiety and concern for Trump. And now when the situation and circumstances are not favouring him anymore, he has begun accusing everyone of deliberately playing foul given his re election bid.

But, had that been the truth, the courts could have morally and dutifully stepped in by encouraging Mr Trump for furnishing proofs, if at all their were any. Alas! I am afraid, Mr Trump. You failed that chance as well. It would be still better if you quietly honour the mandate of the people and decently step down from your post.

Please stop embarassing your fellow Republican colleagues as they already are at a loss of words for their party’s decimal performance in the run upto the Senate with the Democrats in the driver’s seat effectively wresting control of the White House and House of Representatives. After a long time, we are seeing this translate into a reality in the United States.

Republicans, you need to watch out for all the previous actions of Mr Trump if you are to seriously rebuild the party from the scratch.

It’s high time.
