REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION IN THE PRESENCE OF COVID-19

Republic Day of India is being celebrated on 26th of January since 1950. This year (2021) is the 72nd republic day and due to Covid- 19 the celebration will be somewhat different from the rest of the years. As the officials said, the mass will be reduced to 25,000 spectators probably and the stunts performed by the motorcycle borne-men will not be seen this year. Special safety measures will be taken during the celebration which will be held in Rajpat and the nation will be addressed by the President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind.

The awards will not be given this year to the children who have earned bravery as the social distancing will be difficult to maintain and the media persons will also be reduced because of it. The Rafale fighter jets will be participating this year in the Republic Day parade which was purchased by India from France last year. The contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces will also be featuring in the parade this year with 122 soldiers and this is the third time the contingents of the Foreign Armed Forces will be participating in the Republic Day parade.

There will be 32 tableaux in which 17 will be of different states as well as Union Territories, 9 will be of ministries and defense arms will be having 6 tableaux this year. The tableaux of Indian Navy will be showcasing its credible force during the 1971 Indo- Pak war and the theme will be titled as ‘Indian Navy Combat Ready, Credible and Cohesive’. Uttar Pradesh will be showcasing the cultural heritage and beauty of Ram Temple which is being built in the ancient city of the state.
