Farmer Protest: What Is This Twitter Outrage Distracting You From?

Some international celebrity expressed her views on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India and the whole nation is speaking about it, including our beloved celebrities who most of us admire. But we should think before that: were we really waiting for our celebrities to speak up for the farmers as literally no celebrity who spoke after Rihanna’s tweet seems to have thought for a second before tweeting.

It seemed like some message had come from their high command i.e, the ruling class of the country and they just copy-pasted it as evident. Talking about propaganda which these stupid celebrities are hailing around, let me recall some instances of actual propaganda.

Someone from the parliament shouted slogans,”desh ke gaddaron ko goli maaro saalo ko” in one of his rallies after which Delhi riots happened. Some religious samitis came in support of the Hathras rape accused. These were actual instances of propaganda.

Rihanna just asked a question exercising her freedom of speech and expression which was heavily criticised and termed as “an internal matter.” Had she been an Indian, she would have been given some fancy term like anti-national, Khalistani, Pakistani, and the like.

Lastly, I would say that these tweet wars are just created for people to continue talking about unimportant issues so that they can’t think and listen to their conscience if any is left anyway. This also leads to them forgetting their basic values of righteousness, human rights and freedom.

A very popular saying goes as“har kaali raat ka savera zaroor hota hai.” Hopefully, this would also end someday.
