Consistest Rohit Sharma has stormed into the top 10 test ranking for test batsman by attaining a career-best 8th rank. Rohit Sharma jumps six places after his fighting half-century on the challenging surface in the first inning of the third test match against England. He was India’s top scorer in both innings of the test, scoring 66 and 25, helping his side to victory inside 2 days at Motera.

Continuing his great form after the fabulous hundred at Chepauk in the second test match, Rohit Sharma gave India a decent start along with Shubman Gill after England bundled out for 112 runs. Then, he held on to one end, ensuring the home team gained an important first-innings lead of 33 runs on a difficult wicket. In the second innings, while chasing the target of 49, he ensured that the team reached the target without drama.

Second highest batting average in the world test Championship

Ever since Rohit Sharma has started to open the innings in test cricket, he has been on a record-breaking streak. He has hit the most number of centuries for India in the tournament and has the second-highest average in this WTC, behind Marnus Labuschagne. He has scored 981 runs in the tournament with an average of 67.

Ashwin moves into Top 3

Ashwin becomes the 4th Indian to enter the 400 club.

Ravichandran Ashwin has also moved into the top 3 in the lastest ICC test rankings for bowlers. After picking seven wickets in the third Pink ball test, India’s premier spinner moved into the top 3 rankings. In the way, he achieved the milestone of 400 test wickets.

Ashwin becomes the 4th Indian to enter the 400 club after Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (417). He became the second-fastest bowler to achieve the feat in his 77th test match, only behind Muttiah Muralidharan (72).

India will be hoping that these two in-form players continue to perform in the final test match of the series that is scheduled to be played on 4 March at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad.
