“This was not an ordinary year. No business can ever be prepared for this kind of unforeseen situation. Still, this year also made people relook at their business models and focus more on digital marketing,” said Nitin Pal, Sr. Digital Marketing Consultant. Mr. Pal begged the ‘Best Digital Marketing Consultant’ award at the summit.

South Asia Pacific Healthcare Summit & Business Awards 2020, one of the most coveted Business Summits of 2020, saw the participation of CEOs and CXOs from across the country.

Speaking about the challenges of digital marketing professionals, he explained that “We faced few challenges. We are a start-up with an international and local client base. Many international clients decided to cut down their marketing budgets, but fortunately, local family-run businesses have opened up to selling and promoting themselves online.

He feels as we move towards the digital economy, there is a huge potential for digital marketing in the coming days. However, he shared his apprehension about the lack of qualified digital marketing professionals. “There is an explosion of discounted digital marketing courses online, but the credibility of these courses is highly questionable.”

The Field Digital Marketing Is Rapidly Evolving

His advice to aspiring digital marketing professionals is to get some hands-on experience by interning or volunteering with established digital marketing agencies instead of enrolling in online courses.

He says that though the situation is not that bad. He shared his experience of Bromide, an end-to-end marketing solutions company born during the COVID crisis. “It was interesting to see how an Indian start-up was able to recruit the best of the digital marketing professionals who not only understand their job but also know how to deliver it in time.” He added.

Mr. Pal also advises business heads to learn the basics of digital marketing themselves. He said that even if one decides to outsource digital marketing or hire someone, they should know what to expect.

At the same time, he proposes that as the field of digital marketing is very new and evolving faster than any other field, it is inevitable for businesses to hire professionals or agencies that keep themselves updated and keep reworking on the strategy as per the client’s needs.

This summit was the flagship event of World Best Brands and Business Awards 2020, organised with the objective of narrowing the gap and help the industry to collaborate by bringing together people from different sectors. In turn, this will benefit society.
