Pulwama, a word that reminds us of how brutal terrorism is.
Exactly two years ago, in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel was on their way to Srinagar, but in between, they were attacked by a vehicle bore suicide bomber who was driving a car carrying explosives at Lethapora.
In this attack, 40 Indian personnel of CRPF were killed and more than 35 were injured. The responsibility of this attack was taken by a Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed. This attack had completely shaken India. And a warlike situation occurred between India and Pakistan.
On that day, 40 families lost their loved ones. The perpetrator was identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, a 22-year-old from Kakapora. According to Dar’s parents, Dar became radicalised after he was beaten by the Indian police. Between September 2016 and March 2018, he was reportedly arrested six times by the Indian authorities. However, each time, he was released without any charges.
This attack was the failure of our intelligence agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Research and Analysis Wing. Even after a year’s investigation, the NIA was unable to find the source of explosives. This kind of attack puts a question mark on the efficiency of these agencies.
– India took back the status of the most favoured nation from Pakistan.
– Custom duty was increased to 200% on every imported good from Pakistan.
– FATF put Pakistan on the grey list.
– Protests, bandhs and candlelight marches were held across India.
– Many organisations and associations banned Pakistani artists.
India responded with full bravery. On February 26, 2019, 12 jets (Miraj 2000) of the Indian Air Force crossed the LOC (line of control) and destroyed terrorist camps in Pakistan. India took this major step because it was about these terrorist centres.
On the consecutive day, the Pakistan Air Force conducted an airstrike in Jammu and Kashmir, but no damage was caused. An Indian MiG-21, however, was shot down over Pakistan and its pilot was captured by them.
The whole world witnessed the pilot return to India at the Wagah border on March 1, 2019.
This is the real power of India.
Let’s recall the sacrifice of our soldiers.
