Kejriwal Uneasy After Passing Of The GNCTD Amendment Bill

Kejriwal

So far the farmer’s protest has been attracting everyone’s attention towards Delhi, but now the GNCTD bill empowering Delhi’s LG with extra powers has made Delhi’s elected AAP government uneasy and uncomfortable. Arvind Kejriwal and Co look as worried as the farmers’ leaders are.

The position of AAP leaders despite winning the elections is similar to the farmers protesting against the Union government’s farm bills. There stands no remedy other than continuing their protest in a purely democratic way.

Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said that the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill (GNCTD), 2021, was necessary to remove ambiguities and make governance in Delhi more accountable and efficient.

Well, this comes as awful news to AAP leaders. The new bill makes it clear that the term “government” in any law made by the Legislative Assembly will need the Lieutenant Governor’s opinion before the Delhi government takes any action. They are terming the bill extremely unimportant and harsh. They have been putting questionings as to why the Bill has been passed.

It’s making the elected government redundant. In-depth detailing on the political angle makes several speculate that the BJPs constant failure to come to power in Delhi for the past several years resulted in the method. Congress and AAP have impeded BJP to gain political success in Delhi. Now the bill is what the political gazers perceive.
