According to McLean and Company(an HR research and advisory firm),
1. A disengaged employee costs an organization approximately $3,400 for every $10,000 of yearly salary.
2. Disengaged employees cost the American economy up to $350 billion per annum due to lost productivity.
These are just the monetarily repercussions of not having an engaged workforce, other effects of this include low employee loyalty,lesser employee satisfaction and happiness,increased attrition rate,disinterested employees, decline in productivity and higher absenteeism.

Considering the gradual negative repercussions,organizations are leaning on towards better practices and encourage on promoting more engaged workforce.The ideas and methods to improve employee engagement have to be subjective to the organization. No formula works for all, yet while chalking out the strategy for employee engagement program,the culture of the organization,needs and opinions of the employees,organizational goals and the available resources have to be considered beforehand.

4. Employee Wellness- Encourage healthy behaviours and promote wellness habits, these are scientifically backed methods of engaging employees.Employees want to stay in the organization which implements wellness programs and shows a care towards their most important resources, it also results in decrease in sick days ,increase in productivity; and International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) reports around 50 % decrease in absenteeism in organizations implementing employee engagement programs.

5. Fitness Focus- Promoting a fit culture is in fact a sub part of driving employee engagement.Encouraging workout and exercising according to a Briston University research,results in 41% increase in motivation to work. Even an easy and convenient on-desk 10 minute exercise can improve the employees concentration and their physical health.

6. Training- Providing periodical training to employees can save the employee from embarrassment of feeling incompetent for the job,an employee is more likely to feel disinterested if they do not know how to perform a certain a job. Trainings and development measure will save the cost to organization also and employee on the other hand feels the growth.

7. Promoting Social Behaviours- Build relationships, promote social behaviours, induce collaborations, inject team-work and watch them grow and maintain harmony in the workplace.
