Opinion: Mithun Knows When To Strike And Is Ready To Prove His Mettle

Mithun and Modi

Mamta, Modi and Mithun are becoming central to the assembly elections in Bengal, exciting public opinions and ideas on who should call the shots on 2 May when the five state assembly elections will be declared.

Mithun Chakraborty, the yesteryear’s star of the Indian film industry, has made his choice clear by associating himself with the BJP. In his capacity as a campaigner of the BJP, he would like to take up the concerns and crisis of the downtrodden, thus bettering their situations and circumstances.

Mithun Joins The BJP.

The BJPs rally at Kolkata’s Brigade ground was a reminder that the party would like to take up the services of all the sections and communities, promising a vision of a new Bengal. If we were to go by a popular phrase, “What Bengal thinks today India thinks tomorrow”.

Earlier, Mithun Da was a loyal footsoldier of Jyoti Basu and Mamta Didi thanks to his popularity and stardom. In my opinion, he knows when to strike and where to strike and has taken it upon himself to prove his mettle and merit as he has been presenting on the silver screens.

Politics is a different ball game, where more than ideology, the interests of the people matters most for the leader to be on their toes. Apart from entertaining the constituents, you have to engage and involve them at every level and step. How Mithun sets this in motion will be everybody’s guesses.

Mamta is brilliant in statesman skills and craft, and Modi is a reputed orator. We need to see if Mithun will be able to persuade his politics purposefully or will abide by the dictums of his script.
