Bihar Minister Receives Proverbial Response By MLA For Refusing Pension Hike

How can we reject the claim that the recent proverbial sentences made at the ministers of the Bihar Assembly have not irked them? Although the three proverbs somewhere illustrate the sentiments of society, yet, practical lessons are hidden in them.

What made Alexander the Great so much better than all the other equally stronger conquerors? It is not just about the size of his big empire. It was also neither his military strength nor war intelligence. It was most certainly the chance to surrender that he would give even to his ardent enemies before massacring them or “conquering” the women and children caught in victory.

Minister of Social Welfare Department Madan Sahni

Our modern-day legislators, even when it comes to helping the poor and needy, keep their goodness in their cranium. It is their support during the elections that compels them to do something for the poor. So, their hearts beat for the poor when they require their good help. While raising their pension matter in the Bihar Assembly, one legislator made an emphatic attempt to discuss hike in their small pension. It is merely Rs 400 for older people, widows and people with visual impairment in some states. This meagre amount stands lesser than the amount received by similar recipients in the states of Delhi, Goa and Haryana.

In response, Minister of Social Welfare Department Madan Sahni said that the amount cannot be given in Bihar. The state government bears 70% of such assistance to 95 lakh people in the state. Therefore, a hike won’t be possible. The MLA was angered by this reply of the minister. He objected through proverbs, and said that this has become a matter of ‘Song of Khurpi in Hansua’s Biyah’. Earlier, it seemed that ‘Saiya bhai kotwal now der kah khe ka’, but now it has to be said that ‘Ka kar karoon singar piya mora aanhar’.
