Quick Bytes: CBSE Board Exams 2021 Have Been Cancelled

Due to India’s continuously increasing covid cases, the government has decided to cancel class 10 board exams and postponed class 12 exams. Now the question arises, ‘is the decision of cancelling the board exams is reasonable’?

Education Ministry has said that the evaluation of marks of 10th class students will be based on objective criteria (internal assessment). Also, the government has given an option to those students who are not satisfied with their assessments; they can give the exams. A suitable time will be selected for them.

Secondly, on the postponement of the 12th exams, the government doesn’t seem much clear because they have said that they will re-evaluate the situation on 1 June. But here also students are expecting that their exams will also be cancelled like class 10.

The reason behind postponing the 12th exams is very reasonable that the value of 10th class marks is not that huge. Students get admission to colleges based on the 12 marks.

Why should class 12 exams also be cancelled? We don’t know that how long this pandemic will go on. And we are just wasting the time of class 12 students by keeping them in this uncertainty.

Are an online exams an option? No, there are many poor students who don’t have any access to mobile and internet services. Even online exams are not efficient in calculating the calibre of students. Different people have different opinions on how the exams should be conducted now, should they be postponed or should they be cancelled?

Many state boards and ICSE boards still haven’t taken any decision on exams, which keep students in a situation of anxiety.
