Humans tend to show or portray themselves as strong even though deep inside, they feel like shit. Nope, nobody wants to see the fake side, #dontfakeittillyoumakeit. They want to see who you are, the real, true and honest side of you.
Imperfections are also perfect. The scars, pimples, facial hair, not so perfect eyebrows. Why does your face always have to be just right? It infuriates me. Why do your height and weight have to be in line with your age group? If it does not match, you are either overweight or underweight and then you know the outcome — body shaming. Of course, one should take care of their health. If you are underweight or obese, just let it be as long as you don’t have any ailment due to your weight.
A trend has been set that everybody wants to have a size 0 waist, and it’s absurd to be “fat”. Why can’t you eat what you want to? Why are you reducing carbs? I’m not saying eat endlessly, eat just the right amount of food — a healthy, well-balanced diet as well as sufficient exercise. This would lead to a healthy you.
What is fit? As per definition, it is “of a suitable quality, standard or type to meet the required purpose”, or another definition is “being in good health, especially because of regular exercise”. Which definition would you rather choose? The first one where you want to constantly tire your body, draining it in order to meet the “standard” or just keeping good health due to exercise? I’m assuming you would inevitably want to choose the second definition, right?
I believe we have got the concept of BMI wrong. It was meant to be there to keep you informed of your health. It doesn’t mean that you either starve yourself to death or overeat and end up purging. It does not mean sacrificing.
To conclude, remember the world does not want to hear or see the “perfect” you, but they want to see the imperfections, the flaws, etc. Choose what you want to do; engage in the rat race of being perfect or accept yourself the way you are and change yourself when you want to?
