“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” a very noble quote, a very noble movement.
But until we provide a safe society for the betis of our country, what kind of life are we going to give the beti after saving her and educating her? What kind of future and life are we giving them after saving them?
Or does the quote actually mean “zindagi bhar beti bachao (keep saving her, her whole life)“? Yes, we can educate them, train them in self-defence, make them independent and capable enough to fight the world.
And hats off to the women who not only fight the world for everything their whole lives but are also working side by side, shoulder to shoulder with the men of the world and giving them a run for their money, men who are free from the extra burden of constantly fighting to survive. Imagine where women can reach; if they don’t have to waste their energy fighting for survival, will men be able even to come close to where women will have reached?
Imagine a world, a society which is safe for girls, unimaginable, right? Ever thought, why is it so imaginable? So rather than the quote above, wouldn’t a better and more appropriate quote be “Bete Padhao, Bete Ko Samjaho aur Sikhao” for a better and safe society? Or better yet “bachchon ko padhao, bachchon ko samjhao?”
If betiya can accomplish and achieve so much with the extra baggage of the society on their heads and constant fear for their lives in their minds, how far and how much will they be able to achieve if we take these constraints away from them?
