Is The Cancellation Of Board Exams A Boon Or Bane?

Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself

Truly said by John Dewey, education has become a necessity in today’s world. Even in India, making all the citizens literate is one of the top goals.

The CBSE notification announcing the cancellation and postponement of exams..

In the Indian education system, board examinations refer to the public examinations that are conducted at the end of 10th grade and the end of 12th grade. Recently, CBSE has declared that class 10 board examinations have been cancelled and the 12th board examinations have been postponed for the safety and well-being of the students. The news left many students as well as parents astonished. Now, the main question is that is this cancellation a boon or a bane?

Indeed, exams are not the only component of education and they can’t justify or determine the potential of a student. But it is also true that it is the only way to test a student’s literacy level. Moreover, the board exams are one of the most important exams which have a great effect on one’s life.

In this year, the students who were planning to study abroad will face problems in their plans and they might have to take a step back and also the students who were mentally prepared for the exams would be disappointed by the news.

On the other hand, the students who are relieved due to the cancellation of boards should be aware of the fact that this is a short-term step and it is a basic need to be thorough with the 10th-grade syllabus to excel in any stream and to write entrance exams of prestigious universities.

Hence, this step taken by the government has many drawbacks. But no matter what, it is true that health comes first and the government should always regard the students’ wellbeing over anything.

At the end of the day, it is the student’s responsibility to be sincere in their studies and to not let any circumstance come in the way of their education and learning. If they have the will to learn, they will sincerely concentrate on studies, irrespective of the cancellation of the boards.
