New Beauty Standards For Business Purposes Are Ruining Lives

Beauty, it’s a billion-dollar industry nowadays and it’s because of the dominating media whose impact looks invisible or faded to most people although it’s huge and toxic.

Advertising, in particular, creates a toxic mix of messages for men and women.

“Children and teens are exposed to over 25,000 ads in a year, and companies spend over $17 billion a year on marketing toward children and teens,”. We all know the purpose behind it because that’s where the business going to work. But it’s really important to take all its negative impact into consideration before it is too late.

The worst part about the negative beauty standards is that it hasn’t left any part of the body which hasn’t idealised. Absolutely head to toe, With the goal of becoming beautiful, young women are altering their bodies through plastic surgery. Lip fillers to Tummy tucks, botox injections, breast augmentation and rhinoplasty are all popular procedures to improve one’s appearance and we all know where it is leading us.

Even that depression can lead to different toxic behaviour or toxic distractions like drugs and alcohol.

What Can We Do About It?

We cannot escape from advertisements or tv commercials but parents, role models and beauty influencers can really work on it. They can teach them about true inner beauties and they can help them better psychologically rather than pushing them to hate their own body.
