Getting The Covid-19 Vaccine Is Not A Lone Battle With This Helpline

We are in a combat against the pandemic that shook the world more than a year ago. After the first wave, India is fronting a devastating second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Being one of the largest producers of vaccines, India has been supplying its vaccines to vulnerable countries. One of the most effective ways to beat Covid-19 is mass vaccination. Sources say that the chance of hospitalisation due to Covid-19 will be less for the ones who are vaccinated. India started its vaccination drive by vaccinating the elderly in its first stage.

However, due to a huge population, mass vaccination in a short period is indeed a challenge for our nation. For many who do not have access to basic digital infrastructure or technological know-how, the registration for the vaccination slots is almost zero. Even for those who have accessibility to digital infrastructure, getting a slot of vaccination can get overwhelming. With the unavailability of vaccine slots, sometimes cancellation of the slots after a long wait can make people traumatised. People engulfed in this massive wave also found it difficult in verifying and getting the necessary resources for their treatment.

But this is not a lone fight. We at Svadhyaya are on a mission to bridge this technological gap. We’ve launched a helpline project wherein we  create impact by helping people who lack digital literacy or basic digital infrastructure to get themselves registered for Covid-19 vaccination on the CoWin platform.

Moreover, we also help them through our software support to find slots in their localities whenever available. Anyone who wishes to seek help can give us a missed call at 820-7539101. Our help desk volunteers would reach out to help with the registration process/slot booking or the general vaccination FAQs. The Help Desk Volunteers may help in two ways:

a) By making the registrations on the person’s behalf by seeking necessary details.

b) By giving oral directions while the person in need makes the registration online themselves.

As mentioned before, for the resources, anyone who needs to get Covid-related resources verified may send all the details of the leads to us over WhatsApp at 820-7539101. Our volunteers would verify the resources and get back promptly. Each citizen has the right to get vaccinated and we believe that no one should be left out from this drive. As a part of our pan-India outreach, we are reaching out to organisations to make sure that help reaches the grassroots level across India.

If anyone wants to be part of this drive, we are willing to have you on board. You can help us out by making us get in touch with your community of impact so that we can help them out with registrations and the slot-booking procedure because your support is essential to help millions with the vaccination. It might be difficult for all of our fellow citizens to get vaccinated and protect their lives.

Let’s join hands to make sure every India gets an equitable opportunity to avail the benefits of vaccines. It is our duty to ensure that no one is left behind due to a lack of privilege. As our nation fights the coronavirus pandemic, our efforts must not stop.
