AID FROM 2005 TO 2010

PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE 2005 

In 2005, a vital earthquake occurred in Pakistan administered Kashmir and in North West Frontier Province. It registered 7.7 on the Richter scale. The official death toll was recorded as 79,000.But the officials say nearly 1400 people also died in Indian administered Kashmir.

Khalsa aid launched a relief project and Ravi Singh(CEO of khalsa aid) visited Balakot as it experienced a lot of damage and with the help of government and international NGOs rescued people.

Khalsa aid also provided sanitation facilities in camps and nearby areas. Toilets, washrooms and other cleaning facilities were built. A sikh community also provided support and distributed food for hundreds at Muzaffarabad. Khalsa aid provided the community with ingredients and fresh fruits.

INDONESIA TSUNAMI 2006 

In July  2006, Pangandaran earthquake and tsunami occurred off the coast of west and central java and it had a magnitude of 7.7,it resulted in more than 600 deaths and 75,000 people got displaced. Almost 600,00 homes were destroyed and 1.2 million people were left homeless.

Khalsa aid sent a relief to Java, the team visited many affected villages. The relief team provided educational supplies to the children and supported to rebuild school. The relief team also ran an art therapy sessions.

 BANGLADESH CYCLONE 2007

The 2007 cyclone in Bangladesh was one of the worst natural disasters .International NGOs estimated that between 5,000 – 10,000 died as a result of the cyclone.

Khalsa Aid team made an assessment of the local region and reached out to remote village Pathargaat. Number of homes and a school in the village were destroyed.There was immediate need for clean drinking water and food supplies. 

Khalsa Aid began  a four week project where clean drinking water was provided as well as support to rebuild houses.

PUNJAB FLOODS 2007

In 2007, there was large floods in Punjab which affected over 50,000 people. Many villages suffered  from poverty and loss of basic living conditions. Over 134 villages and 11,080 hectares of growing crops were affected. 

Khalsa Aid has supplied food essentials(flour, rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt and spices), blankets, bed sheets and underclothing to the affected people. 

DISPLACED SIKH IN PAKISTAN 2009

In 2009 Khalsa Aid provided relief to the Sikh and Hindu refugees at Panja Sahib Gurdwara, Pakistan. The refugees urged them to provide them with sanitary items. The purchase of these items was made through a donation to Khalsa Aid from a family in London who wanted the money spent directly for the refugees.

COLOMBIA ORPHAN CHILDREN 2009

In 2009, Varinder Singh, a dentist from Slough, won a £750 cash prize from work to offer voluntary dental services abroad. He chose to do this work in association with Cambodia World Family (CWF). This prize money was matched recess advice by Khalsa Aid with the funds used to provide necessary equipment and resources for the clinic in Cambodia.

Cambodia World Family (CWF) is an NGO based in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. It provides free dental services for approximately ten-thousand orphans and unprotected children from the many organisations around the city in a clean, caring and modern environment. Treatment for disabled and traumatised children who otherwise have no means of care is also provided. CWF aim to relieve the organisation caring for these children of the financial burden associated with immense dental treatment, in a clean modern environment the like of which is rare in the country.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE 2010

The devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti left 220,000 people dead, destroyed  almost 50% of the schools and resentfully affected over 3,500,000 people.

In 2010, Khalsa Aid collaborated with United Haitians in the UK (UHUK) to provide much needed humanitarian aid in the region. During this time Khalsa Aid also established an official operation centre from a disused clothes factory for all international NGOs to set up and efficiently coordinate relief operations.

There service is never ending and they will continue to serve to humanity
