Here Is What You Can Do This Mother’s Day To Make It More Special For Your Mom

A very common saying goes- “As god could not be present everywhere, he made a mother who is a friend, philosopher, and guide to us.” Mothers are the most important people of our life. She is an idol of selfless love and affection. Mother’s Day is a day for us to show our appreciation and gratitude towards our mummy, mom, maa, and all the motherly figures worldwide. Mother’s Day is celebrated across the world every year on the second Sunday of May. Therefore, the date varies every year. This day is marked to recognise the immeasurable contribution and efforts of mothers, and pay tribute to everything a mother does assiduously for her child.

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity.”  -Agatha Christie

Mother’s Day was first celebrated in the US in 1908 by a woman named Anna Jarvis, who wished to commemorate Mother’s Day as a recognised holiday to honour her own mother, Ann Reese Jarvis, three years after her death, because her mother had expressed such a desire.

Although a single day is not enough for us to thank our mothers, the occasion gives us an opportunity to do something special for them. There are a number of things we can do for our mothers at this time of the global pandemic. Cooking for our mother and allowing her to rest while we do the household chores, or baking a handmade cake are the most simple and small ways through which we can express our love for her. We can also plan a midnight surprise by hanging some colorful balloons and putting cute notes on the loose ends of the strings for her to read. Alternatively, we can also make a photo collage video collecting all her pictures, arranging them in a sequence and making a touching slideshow presentation.

“I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” -Abraham Lincoln

It is never too late to appreciate the lifelong efforts of our mothers. So, even in lockdown during which the workload of our mothers may have been tripled, this opportunity should be taken to pamper her and treat her like a queen, even if for just for a day.
