The West Bengal Poll Results Show How Voters Dealt With Yogi’s Romeo Angle

Mahua Moitra

With the completion of the oath-taking ceremony of Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third time, the focus now turns upon governance. She has also said that maintaining law and order and controlling the Covid-19 virus would be her preferences.

The political bitterness that pervaded till the day of election results was not missing at her simple oath ritual. She would endeavour hard to run the affairs as diligently as she had shown in her election campaign.

What needs to be dealt with here pointedly is the confidence of the TMC MP from Krishnanagar, Mahua Moitra, who appeared to have rightly reacted to the Bengali mood during the poll campaigning. She was unhappy at the way comments poured from BJP leaders about the state youths. She countered them by saying that Bengalis love art and their music, poetry, mishti, and yes, their Romeos too.

Contending with the uttered matter, she found a decent chance to clear everything about Romeos. There was just one reason to engage in this mess during a particularly electioneering time, as explained by her. What she had meant at that level hinted at the overall anxiety of the BJP leaders complaining of over youths. When things were going against them, causing stress, they accelerated the Romeo angle that led to a different direction.

Emphasising on Romeos, she insisted that they were lovers-at-heart and did not show any love for BJP leaders and their views. When the final results of the Assembly elections were declared, her calculated points were established with the voting percentage secured by her party in the recently concluded assembly elections.

It was quite clear that the youth and women widely supported and voted for the Trinamool Congress. It is here verified that she was fully correct in her approach about Bengalis who loved, adored and admired their Romeos too.

The party’s huge win pointed out that Bengalis were instinctively connected with their cultural traits. Her very reactions emitted after UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement that if BJP came to power in West Bengal, Romeos would be sent to jail by an anti-Romeo squad.

Undeniably, each passing day looks as dull as the last and the seasoned air blows everything with its blasts. There are numerous windows, but the hot sun blazes feebly when it can only be felt through the opaque glass.
