What Should We Expect From The Nearing UP Elections?

I am yet to convince and conclude if for an Akhilesh Yadav giving a run to the Bhartiya Janta Party in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Owaisi looks seemingly interested in cobbling alliance with his uncle Shivpal Yadav’s Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party. Potentially impacting and influencing prospects for SP under Akhilesh Yadav banking on grabbing the goodwill of smaller regional players.

Representative image only.

Will it be feasible for Samajwadi Party to build consensus with Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party or for that matter Chandrashekhar Azad of Bhim Army. What if they side with a BSP and Congress or remain independent offering a takeaway to the Bhartiya Janta Party in the state.

There is every possibility of this picture translating into a piece in every column, dialogue and debate as none of the parties other than the BJP is getting into the shoes of arousing, organizing, arranging and mobilizing people,s opinions on a range of issues impacting and impairing the existence of the common and ordinary. Shouldn’t they be taking the centre stage in articulating and addressing their pleas and plights if not for the deadly second wave of Covid exposing the lapses and failures of the health infrastructure in the state leading to casualties than recoveries? But for electorally clientelistic vote banks of the state viewing issues in black and white establishes sense as they accordingly forget and forgive.

Uttar Pradesh’s politics is more messianic than meaningful awarding opportunity and occasion to the leader with a charismatic custodian wholeheartedly involving, engaging and associating with them. Modi had promised to turn Varanasi into Kyoto around his election from this seat. Akhilesh Yadav distributed free cycles and laptops to girl students in his previous tenure. Picking and placing a role and rank for its representatives without holding their perceptions to contempt.
