Opinion: Pakistan Is Eyeing Occasion To Expand Its Footprints In Afghanistan

Imran Khan

I believe Pakistan is certainly eyeing occasions to expand its footprints in Afghanistan with the United States withdrawing its military troops. Imran Khan would any day want to closely work with a centrist Biden administration than a nationalist Narendra Modi government in India.

Thus, Pakistan may put its weight behind non-state actors who it feels might enhance its prospects of being a radical aggressor, potentially resorting to misadventures of cross border infiltrations and penetrations. Pakistan army is the brainchild behind such costs and calculations racing ahead of the regime in question.

All talks of Imran Khan’s Naya Pakistan turned out to be hollow just like Narendra Modi’s promise of Acche Din to its constituents. Though India chose to be parliamentary, for Pakistan, religiously parked with pride, this wasn’t easy at all.

Be it Musharraf, Nawaz Sharif or Imran Khan bowing to the conservative agency and authority of orthodoxy was integral for winning public office and opinion. Balancing acts were but a necessity. Due to this reason the state in Pakistan never came out from the spell of maulvis and maulanas.

Islam has been politically dragged into the social schemes of reforms to be rebellious and revolting when at the first instance it is quite different in the Quranic verses.

I still believe for Pakistan to prosper and progress it is important to reinterpret the original teachings of the Prophet who was all but for humanity and harmony. Hopefully, Pakistan should undo the shortcomings impacting its advancements and adjustments with the global world order.
