Review: ‘Sunflower’ On Zee 5 Is Engaging, Creative And Involving

Representational image.

The web series ‘Sunflower’ on Zee 5 is catchy, comic, engaging and involving with the likes of Sunil Grover playing Sonu Singh in the plot. The other characters revolve around his appearances, actions and cast as for his creativity in bravely putting up his trademark and timing- “Pyaar mein no thank you, sorry and udhaar ( ye last waala mera hai)”

This is something that keeps the storyline from falling short as for its background and content lost in postulation. Sonu Singh is everywhere right from taking care of his job to the daily affairs of his residential campus where things are far from being normal after a mysterious murder. Finding the culprit is not the main task but tracing the whereabouts of the offender is a herculean task for the cops, vividly illustrated by the role of Ranvir Shorey.

How, they get to their catch questioning, investigating and interrogating the suspects is what hooks, glues and guides the viewers in picking up the ulterior motives. Speaking for the dualities in the lives of common and ordinary, choosing to be insensitive and indifferent to the opinions and ideas of others that are underrated, as if it’s diametrically divergent and different.

The constant bickering, bites and build-ups are what you get in the process of pacification and reconciliation, as has been eloquently highlighted in this script. A daughter fighting to be liberated, a woman asking for her autonomy are dramatically portrayed and picturized but for a Sunil Grover who gets more than a breathing space lacking a description of what it actually intends to deliver. Let the deliberative audience take their calls as for season two which would be both punchy and puzzling.
