DU North Campus Students Protest Exorbitant Fee Chargers

Delhi university

Delhi University students have been forced to sit on Satyagraha at North Campus’ Arts Faculty for the exorbitant charges and fees levied from them.

How will they bear all the burden with the University being shut for more than a year due to lockdown? Plus, scholarships and fellowships offer a sense of social security to rise above indistinguishable odds for most of them. How else would they imagine their sustenance and suitability?

Promoting quality education will otherwise cease to exist if those who are not better offs are forced to fish in troubled waters. Our new education policy is staring at exclusion and marginalisation for those failing to be from the relatively well-off stream.

Already, privatisation of education has deprived the lowly empowered for all practical reasons with hardly any relief and rescue as they continue to suffer the burnt and consequences. Reservations too may not be the remedy for all the ills and evils, at best being a correctional cure for past injustices and atrocities.

It would be better for the Delhi University Students Union to own up this fight representing the interests and aspirations of the common and ordinary students of Delhi University, sacrificing everything for reaching this place.

Aren’t we playing with their future Mr Vice Chancellor hiding in the face of it? Will it do them any good if their sanity is to prevail?
