I Am 15 Years Old And I Want To Find A Solution To Climate Change

NEW DELHI, INDIA - NOVEMBER 25: A girl is seen wearing a face mask due poor air quality, at Vikas Marg, on November 25, 2019 in New Delhi, India. Pollution levels in Delhi-National Capital Region increased marginally on Tuesday, mainly due to slow wind speed, while the situation in the next 48 hours depends on the intensity of rains, officials said. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe'. (Photo by Sanchit Khanna/Hindustan Times via Getty Images)

My last decision about my career is to serve for animals, and acquire knowledge and degree to find a solution for climate change.

Hello everyone, I am Pranjal Wahane, a 15-year-old girl from Maharashtra.

My dream is to become a scientist and find solutions to our environmental problems. I am also looking forward to help animals by signing up petitions that give them food. I wish to educate myself about our environment and this world through the internet.

I can see the harsh reality of this world where people are using animals just for their taste buds and greed. They are also experimenting on animals, which result in nothing but their death. All I can do is spread awareness about this harsh phenomenon of this world.

I tried so much to turn vegan. I tried the vegan diet for one whole week, but because of my mental condition, it is slightly difficult for me to shift. My doctor has suggested me a diet where I must consume dairy products. But I have still left out meat from my diet. I don’t eat it at all. I am trying to create awareness among others about this. But nobody is willing to cut out meat from their life. And I am nobody to force them to do so.

Everywhere in the city, there is so much pollution that we cannot even breathe fresh air in the evening.

In this world, anybody can cause harm to any innocent animal. I can see the human death rate is rising, so how can we expect the animal death rate to decrease one day. This is totally unfair. We can stand up against this and make this thing stop from happening. Just because animals can’t say anything like us and can’t stand up for their self doesn’t mean we can keep murdering them just for our taste buds.

There are still some people who are cannibals and sometimes eat wild animals. So, we don’t want this. We don’t need to see any famished animal getting extinct or endangered from the face of this planet.

We all are fully dependent on Nature, the environment and our home planet, Earth. Nature gives us a lot of things for our survival. So, in return, we should be thankful to it and protect it at all costs. Instead, we are overusing it and causing harm to it at a huge scale. We should take care of our environment and our planet — by not creating pollution. As however much we do to save it, we cannot pay off the price of our actions.

Many years ago from now, this world was full of green trees, plants and huge forests. But nowadays, all I can see is polluted rivers where nobody can drink water. Why? Because it is polluted. And even if someone drinks that, we might catch some disease. The green areas (including trees, plants, forests) are decreasing day by day. Everywhere in the city, there is so much pollution that we cannot even breathe fresh air in the evening. And this could also happen in towns if we don’t stop right now.

Firstly, our population needs to be in a control, as should our vehicular traffic. We can use public transport, but no, we want our own car. By using public transport, we can make sure that our carbon footprints are in control. It is imperative to ban single-use plastic. Even though I can’t stop my parents from buying a car — well, that’s none of my business — I can ask them to stop using single-use plastic. We should not buy air conditioners. If we stop buying it, the climate crisis will mitigate to some extent. We cannot face this climate problem with an higher temperature.

I think it would be better to live on electricity rather than fossil fuels.

Thank you.
