Recently returned after touring Kathgodam and Nainital mesmerized by its beauty and climate impacting and impressing its viewers. Well, hill side population are careful and conscious when it comes to preserving and conserving their ecology. Harela, popularly celebrated in Uttrakhand is all about worshiping the many sides of mother nature symbolising the social and cultural connect and codes of the people with their environment. Farms, fields and mountains surrounded by greenery and grass attracts it’s audience with variety and vividness reflected in people,s attitude and approach of being role ful and responsive to the people,s question. Domicile laws are but about securing and sustaining their survival and livelihood limiting and restricting abuse by organization involving extraction and exploitation. In my opinion it is this belief which empowers, educates and agitates the people for standing upto to their justifiable rights as they refuse to bow down to a form of development- regressive and repressive bloating their idea of individual identity. Why, else would a Sundar Lal Bahuguna rise up for a Chipko Movement stirring, arousing and mobilizing people,s opinions, values and views against a deeply held bias, discrimination and disparity sentencing and subjugating their pride and proud. What else how awaits their faith if not this ????
