How Can Society Expect Us To Unlove Someone And Start Loving A Stranger After Marriage?

Settling down as a homemaker after being an independent woman for 23 years turned the tables for me. Getting an arranged marriage was my biggest nightmare, thanks to the society and people around me who made it come true.

The person I love was seized away. As was the life we desired, the love we craved. The memories we made and the future we planned were all confiscated in the blink of an eye. I was asked to, made to, and expected to be with a man I had never met or loved. But the stereotypes were that I will eventually come to loving him if I dedicate my life to him.

As days passed by, my husband and I never shared anything, we never smiled. We were just made to live together. The next pressure we started suffering from was having kids.

They said it would bring us closer. Neither of us wanted to and filed for divorce, ending two years of our unloved marriage. I couldn’t leave my past, which was ruining my present and was ending my future.
