Quick Byte: Organizers Eyeing Profits Go Ahead With The Olympics

The term goat or bakra has been doing the rounds due to a festival in the Muslim world. Although its meaning in Urdu is a male goat, it has varied connotations in other languages. In Japanese, it means a cheerful person. But, how many of them are cheering at the Tokyo Olympics?

Opinion polls have indicated that most Japanese people would like for the games to be postponed further or called off altogether. Yet, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) juggernaut simply prostrated following full support from the local organizers.

Was Yoshihide Suga, the prime minister of Japan, so weak that he gave in? It seems like there is no alternative to the inauguration ceremony, scheduled to be held on July 23, anymore.

Did you know that the term GOAT stands for the “greatest of all time”? The label is reserved for players who are considered to the best in their sport. To be able to qualify for the title of GOAT, a player must be regarded as not only the best player of their era, but of every era before and after them.

One of the most important quadrennial sporting tournaments in the world is commonly known as the Olympics. Although the Tokyo Olympics is about to begin, even as an intense fear of the pandemic lurks, it is late by more than an year. Now, it will be a spectator-less event.

Who would like to offer their life in the burning fire of the global games’ cauldron? Organisers will have to remain vigilant and cautious. But, will their alertness be enough to save the participants from becoming bakras (fools)?

The empty stadiums will mock the participating players. The Japanese are closer to the Carribean origins of bakra, which means slave owner. It was linked to white people and often used for them, when forced to perform involuntary and unpleasant tasks.

The IOC is about to preside over a one-of-its-kind championship. Previously, it was postponed in March 2020. The virus made certain that Tokyo Olympics (2020) went down in history as the nearly-games.

The Japanese are bracing themselves for Olympics that few want. This is because many fear that it will lead to a public health crisis that will overshadow achievements in the sporting arena.

However, those who speculated that not even the IOC would go ahead with such a big event, during an increasingly dangerous pandemic, have had to eat their words. The host nation of Japan underestimated the IOC’s eagerness to protect its multi-billion-dollar broadcasting rights bonanza.
