We come to hear of the term “B Team” regularly. What is the meaning of this much-used word in politics? Is it not a business terminology that has entered into the political process? If we see its connotation in business parlance, it is clarified as a global nonprofit initiative co-founded by Sir Richard Branson and Jochen Zeitz. It advocates for business practices that are more centered on humanity and the climate.
Apart from its corporate connotation, it is now an argumentative term. As the UP polls are going to be held in the next year the usage of this very term continues to increase. Nowadays it is more frequently linked with Owaisi’s party as BJP’s B-team. According to one version, sometimes AAP, and BSP, were too supposed to be the B-teams. Thus, linking the connotation with the political parties is just a matter of only maligning them. Contrarily, AIMIM does not accept this charge and boldly negates the inappropriate accusation.
AIMIM divides the Muslim votes so the advantage goes to the BJP directly, so thinks the critics. How has edged this debate been in the political pattern? The Congress Party never readies to accept that it is not a B- team of BJP. If there are so many political parties trying to seek Muslim voter’s support new claimants will irritate them. With this phenomenon, the chances of those parties become bleak in earning votes thereby triumph in the assembly polls.
However, what does continue to be instilled by Owaisi is that the Muslims despite their support to all the regional parties fail to empower them, leave aside the power share. If they vote for unitedly to one party the winning march will not only benefit them but also strengthen their political primacy, as floats the idea. Notwithstanding, it can also be said that it is political tactics by the AIMIM to expand its political acceptability. In retort to the point, Owaisi makes it clear that he was raising Muslims’ matters in Parliament with more emphasis.
“The use of terms like vote cutter or B team for a legitimate political party by another is an insult not just to democratic values but also to the important agency of the voters. The constitutional right to contest in constituencies of choice is extended to all political parties, not just one,” writes The Wire.
Given the above points, it needs to be more clear. There is a set definition in political theories for a series of terms and conditions. These do not have a certain historical derivation. Over time, the meaning of the term evolved so as a result, the B team and vote cutter get to be utilized as something that can be used in the same manner or as something else without any important differences.
