Being a citizen we are aghast, annoyed and anguished over the rising prices of essential commodities- petrol, diesel and cooking gas.  I don’t understand if there will be any end to this embarrassment and exploitation with the common and ordinary bearing the brunt without an escape. UPA 2 was mocked, maimed, and ridiculed for falling short of people’s expectations and aspirations with the opposition BJP being on the offensive asking for removal and resignation of its leadership organizing and orchestrating protests.

The same may not hold today given the challenging circumstances and situations with a presidential-style Bhartiya Janta Party under Narendra Modi checking and crushing dissenters. We are at a loss coping with the challenges ahead of us as for BJPs penchant for display and demonstrations of impulsive majoritarianism conveniently dividing the constituents for electoral gains and guarantees. Democracy exists for the sanction of consent with the rest being an afterthought that never gets debated and deliberated so let it be
