Why Comparison Among Kids Is Hurtful And Unhealthy

Why is there comparison in every field, at every age, at every stage, in every space? Why do we not understand that comparison hurts kids mentally and emotionally to the elderly and can impact relationships between one another?

Comparison among kids hurts them emotionally. It impacts their confidence a lot. Parents should understand this as soon as possible, otherwise, they will have to pay the price. Suicide cases among students are increasing day by day. This hurt can be one of the reasons for suicide. Comparison can kill their passion and inner spirit to do something. It can also affect their perseverance and bind them to take a negative path led by their negative thoughts.

Comparison between two daughters-in-law can impact the relationship between them as well as with those who are making these comparisons. It gives rise to jealousy, hatred and bitterness among them. Sometimes, these emotions can make things worse, like create negativity in a family environment; fights and partiality can become common due to this. Comparisons also impact one’s mental health. Sometimes, negative emotions can become so powerful that they can lead to depression and other mental issues.

A comparison of financial status can also lead to people adopting illegal activities to earn money. A wife may ask her husband to buy her a diamond ring just because her neighbour’s husband bought her one. However, the husband might not be earning as much, which might not allow him to buy the same gift. But he really wants to gift this to her as she is asking for one, so now, he has to take a shorter path to earn money.

Comparison always hurts, but healthy competition is necessary for growth. However, we should be careful about competing with others. Our spirit should always be high and positive, and so, we should avoid making comparisons.
