Quick Bytes: When Did “Nationalism” Replace Constitutional Morality?

How can social conservatism substitute constitutional morality and do away with the rights and reason of the individual under any ground? Why are states are becoming increasingly alarmed of their citizens organizing and mobilizing movements promising better guarantees of their social and civic lives? I believe the conflict squarely lies with the governments wanting to take greater control of every aspect of the person.

Far-right leaders like Brazil’s Bolsonaro have often turned to national security and fear to garner support.

National security and sovereignty are buzzers validating conformity of this consensus as we can see and sense in countries like Brazil, Hungary, Russia, Venezuela, etc where far-right leaders have captured the emotions and hearts of their population with slogans and speeches alerting its commoners to the prospects of disintegration and disunity in case of non-abidance to rules, regulations, and legislation.

Shrinking spaces for dissent and discontent bloating political participation in decision-making bodies inviting suspicion and cynicism. Nowadays, global politics is all about signs and symbols where a few dominate at the cost of many isn’t it if I am not mistaken? Circumstances and background may differ though.
