Have You Ever Felt Uncomfortable? If So, What Have You Done?

woman hiding face

Indian society is a little too blind towards abuses, be it sexual where rapes are termed as a “mistake” committed by the boy or the mental and emotional abuse caused by the near and dear ones or even a toxic boyfriend or it’s verbal in any manner. It is NOT okay. No one has the right to cause damage to you.

Representative Image.

Let’s face it, how many times have you felt uncomfortable sitting with that one grumpy, old uncle of yours? How many times have you gone out of your limits, even though you didn’t want to with your boyfriend or husband? How many times have you felt uncomfortable in the touch of a friend? How many times have you called it out?

Indian society makes abuses look so normal that you fail to understand how to deal with uncomfortable situations?

How long would it take for you to say “I feel uncomfortable”. It’s YOUR body. Don’t you have the right to call out when you don’t feel comfortable? And why is it wrong to point out? If you won’t take a stand someone else will suffer in the same way. Questioning why rape cases increase each day won’t help unless you point it out from the very beginning.

It would take just three simple words to point it out. Three simple words and atleast you can do your part. If the abuse still continues, ASK FOR HELP. There’s nothing wrong with it. Talk to your parents, if not reach, out to some friend, just don’t suffer quietly.

All it takes is three simple words, “I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE”.

Feel free to share your story, there are people who are willing to help.
