Brawls With Cab Drivers In India And England: Gimmicks For Popularity?

Slapping cab drivers in India appears to be an easy way to gain popularity. Or is there another reason for taking recourse to this activity? The strange part of the brawl between a woman and a cab driver in Lucknow remains that the driver got sufficient beating by the enraged opponent.

More strange than this is that the people, be it a male or female, leave no opportunity to beat others. If we try to compare incidents in which men, as well as women, were involved in a brawl of this nature, they will come out to be nearly identical.

When compared with a similar brawl that recently happened in England’s Crawley town, a few comparisons can be drawn. In both cases, the nationalities of the two drivers are different. If one cab driver was beaten by a woman in UP’s Lucknow, another cab driver was thrashed by a Mayor in England’s Crawley town.

If the woman, nearly 28-30 years of age, slaps a 35-year-old cab driver, and that too 20 times on a busy road of Lucknow, neither the public nor the police would attend to resolve a violent act instantly on the location. As reported, the case was taken up when a person was trying to rescue the driver but ended up being beaten by the woman. Later, the law prevailed in its entirety.

The strange part of the brawl between a woman and a cab driver in Lucknow remains that the driver got sufficient beating by the enraged opponent.

According to the news, the girl was trying to cross the road amidst moving traffic and during this time, she came in front of a cab. Although the cab driver also applied brakes on time and she was saved from getting hurt, this woman beat up the cab driver and it is alleged that this woman also breaks her mobile phone. But the cab driver did not retaliate.

A similar case of beating and slapping had also been received from a busy T(R)ushmore Roundabout in England’s Crawley town where the newly elected mayor punched the cab driver who suffered injuries to his arms and head. It was also reported that he was knocked unconscious by the mayor.

The brawl broke out after the taxi driver tried to cut into his lane, a witness said, adding that they wounded down each others’ windows before they started screaming at each other. It just started from there. Nobody wanted to get involved because it looked personal. The Mayor, who was only elected in June, has not been suspended from his post, as was reported.

Some of us might notice something that we have not observed before. Others may proceed one step further and solicit a corrective course of lawful action. Injury to self-esteem can not be repaid.

The need for disciplinary changes looks to be a moot question that stirs up a flood of ideas ranging from culture and individuality to gender disparity. It could be thought that historians will untangle the move as they grasp all types of knowledge when society act in such a crucial space.
