Are Earthquakes Increasing At A Worrying Pace In India?

Until things go along smoothly and satisfactorily, it is mentioned that all is well that ends well. As all of us learn there was not enough flow of money among the common people at the time of 1947 but the richness was certainly there. Sporadic cases of tremors were reported in the first forty years of our freedom. The number of earthquakes up to the year 1980 was not reported as more than 14 while after that as many as 29 times our living jolted in India.

Representational Image. Earthquakes have been increasing in frequency since 1980.

Since Independence, the country had only 115 earthquake observatories but now it will have 35 more earthquake observatories by the end of this year and 100 more such observatories in the next five years.

It would certainly be a quantum leap in the number of earthquake observatories in the country.

The Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh said that the Indian subcontinent is considered one of the world’s most disaster-prone areas in terms of earthquakes, landslides, cyclones, floods, and tsunamis.

Our Government takes all necessary steps to meet these challenges but the bridges over the river wash away with the treacherous speed of the streaming water.

Why does fear of tremors linger all the time? Because the countrymen remain terrified with the inflation, cases of loot, thefts, murders, and kidnappings. Whenever the incidence of such tendencies multiply they feel the tremor for a part of the second. All the incidents keep on jolting the revolving earth on its axis. The moment it moves faster than its calculated speed there it caused the jolt in the plates underneath. People are fighting for political reasons, social reasons, fiscal reasons familial reasons, and whatnot. These also lend an auxiliary cause for increasing the pace of earthquakes.

Howsoever, the importance of Geology has developed as a recognized science of the composition, structure, and processes, which govern our living planet. The reason behind its frequency in the whack of quakes has trebled. That could be a solid reason behind rising the number of observation hubs in the country. It has presumably reached its height at present as human society wrestles with challenges at numerous levels of interactions with Mother Earth. The ancient civilization of Harappa seemed to have been finished because of either flood or famine but life on earth will end due to quakes, as geologists might be guessing. This has prompted billionaires or millionaires to seek the living opportunity at the red planet or the moon or any other safe planet.
