Poem: I Wake Up To Fight A Losing Battle Everyday

Children violence and abused concept

I wake up and there you are,
you are a flutter in my chest
you are my racing heart,
you are my clammy skin.

I feel weary as
I wake up and there you are.

Representational image.

How I wish, I could wish you away
How I wish I could tell my heart,
Stop you fool, stop racing away
How I wish I could tell my skin,
Stop you fool, stop sweating away.

Things are still all at once
the body stops playing truant,
and the mind is clear
I can be calm for a second.

And just like that it starts again,
the racing heart and the sweaty skin
the butterflies within
And there I am losing as always,
my battle with my anxiety.
