Kanhaiya Kumar And Jignesh Mevani Joining The Congress Will Change The Party’s Image

Student leader and motormouth Kanhaiya Kumar and grassroots activist Jignesh Mevani are officially joining the Indian National Congress on October 2, as confirmed by the party’s leadership. I am of the opinion that this will certainly give the grand old party a sense of political purpose in involving and engaging with youngsters addressing their distress and dismay.

Who would otherwise take the occasion if the opposition party stays far behind a proactive government aiming for credit in bites, bulletins and prachars (publicity) for what otherwise looks like a significant non-starter? Surely, the Congress can pick up from where it left rallying public support, sentiments and opinions in its favour by drawing attention towards vulnerabilities and excesses of a regime appearing to be infallible.

But the party’s leadership will definitely play a promising role if the Congress were to revive and resurrect itself electorally as its episodic alliances are not always as rewarding, baring a few exceptions. Galvanising and mobilising perceptions around contemporary matters is what will make a distinguishing difference for the voters to decide if they are worthy of being an alternative to the Bharatiya Janta Party, which continues to remain anchored and groomed by its ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in advancing its merit.
