Will Mayawati’s Appeal To Brahmins Affect Her Vote Bank?

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati’s catching and calming Brahmins electorally and politically may upset her actions and equations as with her vote bank of Dalits, particularly Jatavs, from which she hails as they would have every reason to inch and align with Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan’s Azad Samaj Party.

Representative Image.

Already, the Bahujan Samaj Party has been dribbling and decimating as for Behan Ji’s stoic silence on the chauvinistic and divisive rhetoric of Bhartiya Janta Party’s blurring the distinction of affirmative action representing the views, voices and values of the excluded and oppressed.

Where was Behen Ji when Dalits were robbed, maimed and lynched in broad daylight? Why has she always found herself in pains and pressure in standing by the side of truth? What compulsions and constraints have forced her to opt-out from the scene and situation. Has her deputy Satish Chandra Mishra been dictating the terms and tones bringing the better and best of her.

Though Behen Ji registered an emphatic victory in 2007 by relying and counting upon the goodwill of Brahmins, Dalits and Muslims, forming a sizeable chunk of her voter base. But every time this gamble and gesture might remain localised and limited with Behan Ji’s popularity, fading, falling and diminishing lacking communication, collaboration and coordination with the party workers and leaders, boosting the scope and prospects of the party higher.

It looks like she is deliberately sinking into oblivion from where the revival and resurrection of the Bahujan Samaj Party sound bleak if not more as no efforts have been made since the party lost power. Its infatuation with the Samajwadi Party was short-lived after its vote shares plummeted in 2017 and 2019 as for Samajwadi Party immensely extracting benefits.

“Brahman shankh bajayega haathi aage jaayega” were cut and cast into appeals for wooing those sections of the community who have been at the receiving end by the Yogi Adityanath administration. From conspiracies and encounters, they have been crying foul, hurting their sentiments and sensibilities. Unfortunately, this doesn’t make Mayawati an alternative for those desperately eyeing it.

Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav isn’t far behind positioning himself as the fancy leader crafting and configuring his charisma for taking everyone along. Yadavs, Muslims, Brahmins and all as for the competition being thrown by Owaisi hinting at hugely hurting Akhilesh.

Though Akhilesh may significantly bring it down in areas where SP has an edge but with a Congress in limbo may appear drastically different from outside to political scholars and analysts. It is for this fact political leaders from across the spectrum, BJP, SP and BSP, are sending alerts and broadcasts to their constituents for next years state assembly elections.

“Utt kis karvat baithega ye abhi tai kar paana tehri kheer hai ye chunav ain mauke par kisi bhi mur sakta hai. Baaki behenji ko pata hai kaise kab kya hoga aur kaise hoga.”

Will Brahmins become empowered or enlightened with SOPs and schemes in her tenure?
