Why Aren’t People Allowed To Criticise Government Policies?

RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya has officially been sanctioned as the bulletin endorsing the policies, programmes and schemes of the centre, taking upon those whom it finds critical of the ruling dispensation labelled and branded as traitors and anti-nationals irrespective of their location in the social hierarchy.

Narayan Murthy.

Narayan Murthy may have succeeded in setting up Infosys, a major IT hub promising rewarding opportunities and prospects for youngsters dreaming bold and big to achieve in their respective careers. But he too faced the wrath of the reactionary and conservative right accusing him of hobnobbing with the tukde tukde and naxal groups at the cost of national security and sovereignty.

Simply underplaying the GST and other tax-related concerns which Murthy has been critical of doesn’t make him less Indian. Echoing opinions and ideas running contrary to the popular public perception and propagation isn’t a crime but a duty that has to be preserved and protected.

I don’t see any merit in it being laughed at and ridiculed as with industrialist Rahul Bajaj who did test the waters of the government on taxation proposals which did make Amit Shah feel restive and repulsive in one of the programmes hosted by a private television group.

Amazon, which is a big marketing giant owned by one of the richest billionaires Jeff Bezos, is under the scanner for paying bribes to government officials for getting favourable legislation passed in its favour. Compared with East India Company 2.0, undermining and downgrading Indian society and culture having said that Amazon has ensured a fair probe into the merits and matters of the case.

Politically, the RSS should have grilled the centre for failing to take care of investments and infrastructure which could in fact have led to the creation of employment boosting gross domestic product and gross national product rather than focussing on who said what, where and when if for their acquittal and conviction.

Does it behove well for a cultural and spiritual organisation tasked with spiritually rejuvenating the Hindu customs, code and culture to dictate its terms and conditions on getting the first available chance? I believe there is more for Nagpur to attend and attach rather than poking and picking up on lines and statements
