The Dialogue Has Stormed The Digital Media Space Within A Year

The Dialogue

Mumbai-based news portal The Dialogue (TheDialogue.co.in) has stormed the digital media space with its niche exclusive stories.

The news portal was founded by the award-winning journalist Kanchan Srivastava in June 2020, at the peak of the pandemic. Mr Nawab Malik, the cabinet minister in Maharashtra, inaugurated it.

Within a short span, The Dialogue has delivered several exclusive and impactful stories in the healthcare, environment, gender, and political segments leading to impacts at the national and state levels.

Thanks to its serious journalism, the portal has got over six lakh viewers/subscribers within 14 months. Most of its readers are policymakers, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, researchers, and working professionals.

The portal has shot to fame within two weeks of its launch by breaking a story (Modi Govt plans to launch Indian vaccine on 15 Aug, ICMR fast tracks COVAXIN trials) last July about the Modi government’s plan to launch a COVID vaccine by 15 August 2020 bypassing the rules and fast-pacing the clinical trials.

The story led to a massive outrage among medical and scientists fraternity and social media forcing the ICMR to backtrack on its plan  (IMPACT: ICMR abandons plan to release covaxin on 15 August).

One of its stories on post-vaccination deaths also created uproar (Post Vaccination Deaths Raise Concerns in India, Government And Vaccine Makers Silent).

It led to an IMPACT: Govt Admits “Miniscule” Cases Of Clotting After Covishield Shots

A few of its political stories have also gone viral. For instance, UGC asks Universities and colleges to put up banners thanking PM on Day1 of free vaccination for Indians above 18.

The portal’s recent story on the Biodiesel sector (Rampant Sale Of Spurious Biodiesel Is Denting Biofuel Sector In India), which was supported by the US-based Earth Journalism Network grant, prompted several states to bring new rules.
