The JDUs Upendra Kushwaha has every right to ask and demand a caste census. Ally BJP shouldn’t be jittery as for their upper hand in Bihar given their figures, dominating and disabling Nitish Kumar from taking political and administrative exercises aimed at furthering his scopes and prospects as a leader and chief minister.
Maybe the NDA can announce a coordination committee working on the details of the caste census if at all it was to be conducted as nobody stops Prime Minister Modi from bringing out one. How would his party convince his constituents in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh for an alliance if he fails up to keep up his word on this promise?
This can be politically suicidal and disastrous with the BJP deliberately delaying an understanding over this whole issue. If the constitution can be amended for giving 10% reservation to economically weaker sections amongst the upper castes then why not for sections of smaller castes?
There is a point to politicisation anyway building a sense of sentiment and trust is far more important than anything else
