Yogi Adityanath’s Electoral Gimmicks Show He Is Desperate To Win UP Again

Yogi Adityanath

If Yogi Adityanath sounds so sure of his chances and prospects in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, then why is he inappropriately indulging in all kind of gimmicks and gestures, which are totally unacceptable in the first instance?

Being the leader of his party and the chief minister of the state, I don’t see any reason for him to pretentiously react and respond to his critics and opponents.

Remarks like “abbajaan, aatankwadi, dushman (dear father, terrorist, enemy)” etc. are all nicely designed to address and honour the worst form of people’s fears.

Such gimmicks have translated into electoral hits for the Bhartiya Janta Party in the 2014 and and 2019 general elections, as well as the 2017 UP state assembly elections. The opposition either managed face savers or was decimated, while positioning itself as an alternative.

The Samajwadi Party contesting against other regional parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party, and the Congress, fighting separately, may definitely boost BJP’s morale with regards to the splitting of votes.

Yogi Adityanath might have become unpopular, but he still carries with him the burden of being the hardliner Hindutva, who at no cost may compromise his ideals, values and principles of being a saint.

He knows where to fire, when to fire and how to fire a line. He draw contrasts from the past. These are ceremonially recalled, recorded and re-told largely by him, in his larger than life appearances.

Baba ji knows it all…
