Why We Still Need Sanitisation Points At ATMs

Why do ATMs around refuse to have sanitisation points for their customers, apart from temperature-measuring machines?

How can one explain their double standards? At the very peak of the pandemic, standard operating procedures were issued by the Reserve Bank of India and adhered to by banks and the customers alike.

But, what has changed between now and then… With banks citing their hesitation and reluctance?

I believe that there is more to it than meets our senses, as for the stance adopted by the banks. Around the lockdowns, they ensured everyone’s safety and security, with an informed citizenry well-versed with the dos and don’ts of physical distancing.

All this saw banks rising up to the occasion, but not anymore, with most of them trimming their staff and expenditure.

In this light, it’s the efficiency and and effectiveness of the bank in catering and delivering to its customers, that will be a casualty. Thus, the loopholes should be fixed, for accountability and transparency of a banking system in shambles.

Who will bear the brunt of it?
