I Am Proud To Say I Am A Munawar Faruqui Fan

Munawar Faruqui

You know it’s morning when the sun rises. It is 1:30 AM, and the sun is rising again, and now this is the morning for India. An India which is rich in humour. I read somewhere that sense of humour is not just about making jokes. It is also about taking jokes. So my hope, from my India, is higher this time.

I am proud to say I am his fan. But, there is still a fight going on. No, don’t go on Twitter. I am talking about the war an artist has to fight at least once in his lifetime. However, when your name is Munawar Iqbal Faruqui, you are forced to face and fight it regularly.

The fight that the hate-mongers start. This fight kills a person with dreams every day. This time, after being wholly wounded, he is trying to rise again, and every Indian who knows how to take a joke should stand like a wall between the innocent heart of Munawar and the cheap mentality of haters.

He is standing again, not for himself, but for every person in his DM urging him not to go. He is rising again to spread the light of happiness for which he burns himself daily. He referred to himself as ‘Gir ka Sher’ (Lion From Gir), and now it is the responsibility of liberal ‘janta’ (citizens) to protect this gem.

Munawar Faruqui is back, and Munawar ki janta’ is now accountable to take care of this rockstar. The humour in India is safe with artists like him. This is for everyone who has cried unstoppably in the last two days or has cried even once thinking about his state of mind.

He has always stood and is standing strong again. The love he has received in the past two days is a dream for every artist, and this love should double with every passing minute.

The past two days have been tough for every person who thinks of him as a talented artist. His silence was enough to break our hearts a little more with every passing minute. We were worried and traumatized.

But, as the old saying goes, bad times come to make us value the good even more. And I am very sure that we will make the good times shine bright like a diamond for Munawar and all of us as Indians.

We can stop India from becoming a country with zero humour. For this, we have to stop being so intolerant and judgmental. No matter at what stage an artist is performing, no matter at which city, state, or country he is performing, and which community he belongs to. We have to support the art and the artist.

We can stop India from becoming a country with zero humour.

The responsibility is on us, on the ‘janta.’ If you don’t love him, that is completely fine, and I respect your choice. Just don’t spread bad words about him because mental peace matters for everyone. He always says, ‘haters ka bhi dil jeet lenge’ (I will win the hearts of all the haters as well).

And trust me, if you leave aside the hate in your heart and mind, you won’t be able to hate him. Just let him work now. He has censor certificates for his shows. Trust them. Don’t insult a trustworthy document and ask to cancel his shows. Just let him work now and let us support him.

The young audience’s voice supports an artist whose only intention is to make people laugh.

Kuch rasta likh dega, kuch me likh dunga
Woh likhte jaye mushkil, mai manzil likh dunga.

(Some stories the path will write, some I will write
Let them write difficulties for me, and I will write the destination)
