We Have Miserably Failed To Evoke The True Meaning Of Education

student

I want to learn a sacred art; how to fix a broken heart? Would Engineering teach me how to put together the pieces of frequently broken innocent hearts? Will studying medicine teach me how to comfort a suffering heart? Is it a profession? If it is, where can I learn this holy art?

Almost every student resents the education system that we have today. My hands shaking, mind frozen, eyes swallowed, dreams crushing, energy coming to zero, desire to study vanishing, skills collapsing, confidence dying and hope thirsting all because of the education system we have today.

Representational image.

In the time of innovation and technology, we are used to listening to 150-year-old ideas. Surely but not positively, being taught. The earth is round, the stars twinkle, the sky is blue, the air is colourless, the leaves are green, the snow is white, the sun rises to the east, increases our GDP but not the art of preaching the sheer values of knowledge.

I wish our colleges were the same as they showed us in movies. I wish our schools taught us to write creative answers instead of cramming answers to the questions that are being copied from textbooks. I wish our higher institutions taught us to criticise instead of murdering our spirit of never giving up.

Undoubtedly, we are the hub of doctors, poets, leaders, engineers, teachers and whatnot, but we miserably failed to evoke the true meaning of education.

I wish our schools taught us the art of questioning instead of saying we are useless. I really wish our schools taught us the knowledge of humanism instead of making money. Surely and undoubtedly making money is important but not as important as evoking humanism, wisdom in one’s life.
