Scientists race to understand the consequences of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. It is a variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The variant was first reported to the World Health Organization from South Africa on 24 November, 2021. By the latest, it has been encountered in many countries.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed Parliament that there are 11 countries including the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Israel that have been placed in the “at-risk” category amid the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

In the case of vaccinated yet infected with Delta variant, the Covid-19 patients were reported to be nine times less likely to die. Fully vaccinated people were also said to have three times lower chances of catching infection compared to those unvaccinated.
Still, scientists are searching to explore more on the same. There is also a possibility of discovering more vaccines.

- Wash hands properly and wear a mask.
- Don’t try to touch your eyes, nose, mouth or any sensitive areas while you are out of home or on travel.
- Stop sharing your mobile with anyone, maintain a proper distance.
- Don’t shake hands, avoid unimportantly meets.
- Avoid if possible to stay in hotels if proper sanitation is not followed.
