Confidence is a skill and a necessity, that is integral for every human being, unfortunately. You can’t do without this skill as you know what happens then: being taken advantage of!
Confidence does not come just like that, but with experience and maybe, exposing yourself to new challenges in life—these will make you feel confident of your abilities.
It makes you happier… The feeling of empowerment that comes from the realisation that no single individual can speak against you, or take away your rights. It helps build your personality.
One should not force themselves to be confident, but take their own time.
Speaking in front of the mirror to yourself and pretending like there are people who are listening to you, can help you build your confidence. I personally didn’t have that confidence in me for the longest time.
I was even scared to speak to people on the roadside or to place an order at a restaurant, but because of the repeated exposure that my parents enabled for me, I slowly built my own confidence.
Even in terms of studies or anything else, unless you don’t try doing things on your own, you won’t gain that trust in yourself. Having the guts to do something or being bold about it means being confident.
One can even pretend to be confident on the outside, while on the inside, they are scared. But, real confidence comes from the inside.
To conclude, it is not so easy to be confident, but you have to help yourself to be a better version of yourself… Just don’t judge yourself. It is okay if you fail, just keep going and believe in yourself.
You can do anything you want. It’s all in your power. Never be guided by what others might think about you, because that’s where under-confidence comes in. I came across a great quote by Stan Smith to sum this up: “Experience tells you what to do; confidence allows you to do it.”
