Can Mulayam Singh’s Bahu Aparna Yadav Succeed In BJP?

Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party can be seen waving. There are BJP supporters hoisting the party's flags in the background.

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter in law Aparna Yadav joining BJP is a national headline. Bharatiya Janata Party claims to have dented the reputation of Akhilesh Yadav’s further with their misrule stripping the people of their rights, worth and dignity. A billboard banner sufficiently attracted and involved its audience from scams to mafia raj. The state notoriously became infamous for all deficits and deformities.

Aparna Yadav may not get the ticket from BJP to contest. However, she has sent shivers down the spine of Akhilesh Yadav, who still is a best bet and alternative against the incumbent Yogi Adityanath government. Lacking a base and constituents, it will take a little more for her to graduate in politics, which is all but about manufacturing and managing perceptions rather than principles.

Though BJP may indulge in testing Akhilesh by keeping Aparna at the forefront, it would hardly pay off. Akhilesh looks calm and composed in his attacks on the BJP from employment to infrastructure, law and order to livelihood. The party has fared poorly to articulate and address these ambitions and aspirations of the common people, forcing them to fend for themselves. Secondly, Yogi refusing to respond has put the party in a situation that can be dealt with by the powers in Delhi. Akhilesh Yadav is using his skills to give BJP a run for its money, with its ranks and cadres appearing to be more frantic and annoyed. Maybe, a Chanakya like Amit Shah has realised the ground of his party shrinking and sinking.
